Faith Formation

Mission Statement: 

The formation programs at Sacred Heart Catholic Church foster a personal relationship with our Triune God, a true growth in faith for all parishioners through an understanding and experience of the Catholic faith and moral life, a living out of the sacramental and apostolic life of the Church and inviting all to deepen their experience of prayer and worship in the Roman Catholic Tradition.

 

Sacred Heart Church provides many services and faith formation opportunities for parishoners of all ages. Please check the page below for specicic areas of interest. Elementary Faith Formation:

Religious Education Classes:

Religious Education is offered for all school aged children in Grades Pre-K - 8th grade. Classes for children in Pre-K3 - K will meet in the early learning center from 9:00am - 10:15am. 1st grade - 8th grade meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm - 7:45pm in the classrooms of Sacred Heart School. Religious Education resume August 25, 2010. Registration will take place on August 25th at the Annual parent meeting in the Social Hall.

Children's Liturgy of the Word:

At the close of the Religious Education school year, Children's Liturgy of the Word will be eliminated from the Faith Formation Calendar for a period of time so that the parish can better prepare for and administer Children's Liturgy of the Word in accordance with the Instructions given to us by the United States Confrence of Catholic Bishops and in conformity with the Rite.  

Sacremental Catechesis:

Sacramental preparation for the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation are held on an Annual Schedule for all ages. For school age children of the public and parochial schools, these class meet together and are seperate sessions from the parish religious education program or Catholic school religion classes. Middle School Youth Ministry:

EDGE Middle School Youth Ministry a/k/a The Edge Middle School Youth Group meets on Wednesday Evenings from 6:30pm -7:45pm in the Family/Youth Center. All middle school youth of the parish and school are invited and incouraged to attend. LifeTeen

The Sr. High Youth Group is open to all current students in Grades 9 - 12. Life Teen meets on Sundays in the Youth Room on the Northeast side of the Media Center building on US-1 from 6:30 - 8:30pm. Bring your Appetite as Dinner is provided each Sunday. Oh, & Bring a friend!  Please watch our quarterly newsletter for more information and a calendar of events. R.C.I.A. - Are you Interested in Becominig a Catholic?

If you are an adult Catholic who would like to come home, or are interested in becoming Catholic or finding our information about becoming a full member of the Catholic Faith through the reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation? Come to our Inquiry Sessions ever 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Media Center starting at 6:30pm. St. Gerard's Church:

At this time all religious education, youth ministry and formation in the faith takes place at Sacred Heart Church.

"Creating A Safe Environment"

 The policy requires that all youth and adults who have reached the age of 14 and volunteer with children, be cleared in accordance with the diocesan safe environment policy. This includes watching the safe environment video, passing a 13 question safe environment quiz, be fingerprinted and cleared by the FBI. If you wish to volunteer with us in an area that deals with children you must be cleared before you can volunteer. The cost for this service is $50.00 per volunteer. To do this please follow the directions below:

1) Register and fill out your fingerprint card. Click Here

2) Read the and follow the instructions in all the steps. When you have finished, print a copy of everything and bring it to Andy or Sr. Michaelyn, SND at Sacred Heart.

3) Create a personal user account and password on the diocesan webpage (must be done to watch the sate environment video and take the quiz). Click Here

4) Read and follow the instructions, watch the video, take the quiz and print out a copy of the certificate and bring to Andy or Sr. Michaelyn, SND at Sacred Heart.  

For youth volunteers: Please do this with your parents.
